How is this looking? Any chance at all at all that non-Eq might get typed/seen?

This show is already cast. They are still negotiating monetary compensation for everyone else. But this EPA is just a formality since equity requires all equity contract shows have some form of call. Even if they do need a replacement later, 99.9% of the time it will be an equity actor with serious experience/a name actor. I wouldn’t waste your time here today. That’s my 2 cents having spoken to my roommate who is an assistant CD with them. There’s a ton of other stuff today that you have a better shot at being seen/cast at.

    Thanks for the insight!

Listen, any EPA you attend always (*always*) has offers out for all roles. That’s anything from star names to UK cast transfer to non-famous actors who’ve been workshopping the project for years. A show is never *cast* until that press release is out. Period.

You go to an EPA to book the office, not just that particular show. This is how you start a relationship with casting based on your work. Or, you could blow all your tips on workshops and seminars I guess.

I was at APOLOGIA this AM and lots EMCs and alts were seen. Jillian Cimini (actual full CD) was in the room, not an associate or assistant. She ranks high enough at Roundabout that she could have sent a minion, but her job is to find actors. For all projects, forever.

If you’re right for something in this show, get your arse over there. Anyone who advises you not to has skin in the game. But that’s just my 2 cents.

    After lunch update then?

Through the alternate list and EMC. Called about 5 non eq (but only 1 was there)

    ialwaysforgetmypassword 04/16/2018  3:07pm

Called through 15 on non eq

    ialwaysforgetmypassword 04/16/2018  3:16pm

I'm sorry- out of how many - - and thank you guys!

There’s some sort of a fire dept situation at ripley Grier. We are on ‘shelter in place’ meaning we have to stay in the bldg where we are and not evacuate. At first, the fire marshall told people to evacuate so the casting people booked it and are outside. . They are not letting people in or out. The monitor talked to AEA and if you cannot stay to be seen, contact AEA and they will get info to Roundabout to reschedule.

There's actually a fire in the building so everyone here is being told to stay in the building and no one can get in

    ialwaysforgetmypassword 04/16/2018  3:51pm

Wow! Be safe and thank you for the Information!

Hey all, I know that the equity folks that weren’t seen yesterday get to reschedule directly with equity. I’m wondering if anyone knows or has advice on what to do if you were a non-eq waiting to be seen before the fire happened? Do you think it’s worth emailing be theatre directly? This is one of those times that I feel incredibly f*cked over and would love anyone insight on what to do. I know the monitor took the non-union signup with them, but I’m not sure if that even matters. Thoughts!? Advice?

    That Non-Eq guy 04/17/2018  3:15pm

Hey non eq guy....I wasn't at this call, but it sounds like they're only going to schedule appointments for equity members whose previously scheduled appointments were interrupted by the fire. If it's true that the show is already cast and this call is just a required formality, I can't imagine that they would go out of their way to set up an appointment with you if they don't have to and don't know you (unless you are a SUPER rare and specific type, or if you have a particular skill set that is hard to find and needed for the role).

My recommendation: check out the breakdowns for Usual Girls, Bernhardt/Hamlet, and Kiss Me Kate (if you're a musical theatre guy). If you're right for those, try to get to those calls. It's the same casting office. If these shows are already cast, then the best you can hope for is to get in front of these CDs so they learn who you are, and THEN maybe you'll be able to get appointments with them :)

tl;dr: yeah, that fire totally f'ed your chances of being seen for this call, but you have more chances to get in front of this office, so don't sweat it!
