Anybody mind posting who is in the room? I was in the first group but by the time I finished the sheet still hadn’t been filled out.

List was transferred over to an official list at 915. 13 currently on the non eq list. They say to come back around 1:15 in case they type cast.

Terry Schreiber @ Terry Schreiber Studios is one of the last greats left to study with for theatre scene study he’s truly amazing I studied there for 3 yrs and finished all the exercises there’s nothing like it (at 80 yrs old and still sharp as a whip) besides Wynn Handman (90yrs Old)

Second Bob Krakower... but getting into his coach is next to impossible. But, his class is one of the best classes I've ever taken - believe the hype. No matter how advanced you are, I'm pretty sure you'll walk out of his class with a whole new approach, understanding, and set of skills.

  • Little Women at Roebuck theatre 11/16/2017  2:37pm

Anyone know about this company? Is it legit? Do they put on good productions?

its adam roebuck... so, run lol. no but in all seriousness it is not paid and it won't be the little women we think it is. it'll be like a version he wrote himself.

    openspace14 11/16/2017  2:42pm

I was idiotic to do not one but TWO shows at that theater. Run. RUN!! The quality is so bad we literally had audience members giggling at how awful it was. Many just stood up and left. You get FOUR 3-hour rehearsals total for shows that last 90-120mins, the directors are beyond ignorant and oblivious to anything related to good direction, tons of time is wasted, and every time I told anyone in the know that I was in a show there they practically choked. If you want to be a part of something that's lower quality than the cheesiest elementary school play then this is it. The theater only survives because young actors invite their entire families to their "first New York gig" and the theater makes all that money without paying the actors a dime. I've been part of some bad shit, but this is the worst.

    FierceConversations 11/16/2017  4:28pm

    Thanks so much guys!!

    DoinTheThing 11/16/2017  11:51pm

But then who sees this shit?! How do they make money and keep it going?!

    Smactor 11/19/2017  1:05am

I also made the mistake of doing a show with them when I first got back in the biz after having a baby.
They pick crappy shows with big casts and then double cast. So 2 casts worth of friends and family come to see the shows and I guess that’s how they continue to make money.
I was beyond embarrassed to perform there and don’t include the credit on my resume.

    withaZ 11/19/2017  8:24am

I've done two shows with them and had mixed experiences. My first show there was great--we had a talented cast and a director who was very aware of the odds stacked against us (limited rehearsal time, no budget, etc) and found ways to get around that. The second show I did there was a much more frustrating experience. It seems like a lot hinges on the director.

The comment about AlphaNYC (Adam Roebuck) is too extreme. I've appeared in eleven, that's right eleven, of their productions, and while some have been not so good, some have been fine, particularly Our Town, The Laramie Project, Spoon River Anthology and Twelve Angry Jurors. If the play is good and the part is good, my advice is to go with the flow.

That is the problem I have with this. I went for one audition and everyone there seemed to know each other, was an already established theater crew. Which is nice, but I really didn't have the energy to work my way up the chain. I've did community theater since very young and this reminded me of the it. Everyone has to take their turn. No time for that.

    whattheheck 11/19/2017  6:03pm

    its basically comm theatre

What are the chances of being seen if I show up around 4 or so? Is it crowded?

One Percent Better Each Day 11/15/2017  2:29pm

Well, the call was supposed to end at 3, soooo...

They also have another day of auditions this month.

Rain On my Parade 11/15/2017  3:06pm

Planing on going to the call in 2 weeks from now... if I show up after 11 will I be seen? From reading the thread it seems very likely but I just wanted to make sure before making plans.

    Ram22 11/16/2017  1:02pm

You should be fine! I came after 11 on the second day and was seen before lunch!
